The Echoing Green Fellowship is a prestigious global fellowship that supports early-stage social entrepreneurs building organizations that address pressing social, environmental, economic, and human rights challenges. Founded in 1987, Echoing Green invests in leaders rather than projects, providing seed funding, leadership development, wellness support, expert resources, and access to a lifelong global community. The Fellowship lasts 18 months and is designed to help founders turn innovative ideas into sustainable organizations. Fellows receive intensive capacity-building support, mentorship, networking opportunities, and unrestricted seed capital. Funding for for-profit organizations is structured as a recoverable grant.

Age Requirement Applicants must: Be 18 years or older by the beginning of the Fellowship. ✅ English Proficiency Applicants must: Be able to communicate proficiently in English because Fellowship support is delivered in English. ✅ Original Founder Applicants must: Be the original founder or leading member of the original founding team. Have decision-making authority over the organization. ✅ Full-Time Commitment Selected Fellows must: Work at least 40 hours per week on their venture. Make the organization their primary professional commitment during the 18-month Fellowship. ✅ Early-Stage Organization The organization should: Be in its startup phase. Generally have fewer than five years of full-time operations. Still need financial and non-financial support to become sustainable. ✅ Organization Type Eligible organizations include: Nonprofits For-profit companies Hybrid organizations Idea-stage ventures are also eligible. Access to specialists and advisors. The Echoing Green Fellowship is a U.S.-sponsored, globally open Builder opportunity for early-stage social entrepreneurs.
