About this opportunity
The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEF) is the flagship initiative of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, designed to identify, train, mentor, and fund African entrepreneurs with scalable business ideas or early-stage businesses. Founded in 2010, the programme aims to catalyze economic growth and job creation across Africa through the philosophy of Africapitalism.
Requirements
African Entrepreneur
Applicants must:
Be citizens or legal residents of an African country.
Operate a business located in Africa.
✅ Age Requirement
Applicants must be:
18 years or older.
✅ Business Stage
Applicants must have:
A business idea, or
An existing business not older than five years.
✅ For-Profit Venture
Businesses must:
Be for-profit.
Be the original work of the applicant.
Not belong to prohibited sectors such as faith-based organizations, research institutions, or government contracting businesses.
✅ Scalability
The business should demonstrate:
Growth potential.
Capacity to create jobs and economic impact.
Innovation and sustainability.
✅ One Business Per Application
Applicants can only submit:
One business idea or venture.
Previous TEF beneficiaries cannot apply again.
Documents Required
Selected entrepreneurs may be required to provide:
Valid identification.
Personal bank statements.
Statement of debts.
References from employers, banks, or academic institutions.
Business bank account information.
