About this opportunity

The Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists (FWJ) is a global grant program administered by the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) with support from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. Established in 2015 through a $4 million gift, the fund supports ambitious reporting projects, professional development, investigative journalism, and media initiatives led by women and nonbinary journalists worldwide

Requirements

1\. Identify as a Woman or Nonbinary Person The IWMF is inclusive of women, trans women, and nonbinary journalists. 2\. Be a Professional Journalist Journalism must be the applicant's primary profession. 3\. Have Professional Experience Applicants should have: At least one year of full-time journalism experience. A record of publishing work in non-student media outlets. 4\. Team Applications Teams are eligible provided: The application is led by a woman or nonbinary journalist. At least 50% of the team consists of women or nonbinary journalists. 5\. Application Materials Applicants are generally required to submit: Project description Budget Timeline Publication or production plans Samples of previous work Optional letters of support Applications are submitted in English, and some opportunities accept Spanish.
