The Zeitz MOCAA & UWC Museum Fellowship Programme 2027 is a prestigious year-long, fully funded fellowship jointly offered by the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) and the University of the Western Cape (UWC). The program is designed to cultivate the next generation of museum professionals, curators, and researchers across Africa.

Requirements

Educational Qualification Possess a bachelor's degree in: - Art - Heritage Studies - Museum Studies - Art History - Humanities or related disciplines Applicants without formal degrees may be considered through recognition of prior learning. Professional Experience Have: - 2–3 years of relevant experience in: - Museums - Galleries - Biennials - Festivals - Heritage institutions - Arts administration Knowledge Demonstrate familiarity with: - Contemporary African art - African heritage - African diaspora cultures Language Requirement - Proficiency in English. Citizenship Requirement - Must be a citizen of an African country. Fellowship Structure The fellowship allocates: - Three days per week to practical work at Zeitz MOCAA. - Two days per week to postgraduate study at UWC. Departments include: - Curatorial - Registrar & Collection Management - Exhibition Design - Art Education - Institutional Advancement After an orientation period, fellows specialize in one department. Number of Fellows - Six fellows are selected annually. Selection Criteria Applications are evaluated based on: - Academic potential - Commitment to museum practice - Knowledge of African art and heritage - Writing ability - Professional experience - Potential to contribute to Africa's cultural sector Only the first 100 complete applications are considered.
