Requirements

✅ Strong Artistic Practice Applicants (or nominees) must be: Established or emerging professional artists Working in fields such as: Visual arts Film Theatre Music Dance Writing Interdisciplinary arts ✅ Social Justice Focus A core requirement is that the artist’s work must demonstrate: Commitment to social justice, equity, or human rights Engagement with communities or social movements Art as a tool for change ✅ Demonstrated Impact Candidates should show: Recognized body of work Public influence or cultural relevance Leadership in arts or activism space ❌ Not Open Application No public application portal No self-submission system Selection is through curation, nomination, or internal identification ✅ Fellowship Participation Requirements Selected fellows typically: Participate in convenings/workshops Engage in collaborative discussions on art & justice Produce or develop creative work during fellowship period Contribute to Ford’s broader arts and equity dialogue
