About this opportunity
The Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP) is a fully funded Master’s scholarship offered by Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Netherlands. It is designed to support outstanding African students to pursue a Master’s degree in fields related to agriculture, food systems, environment, climate change, and sustainable development.
The programme also aims to build high-level capacity in Africa by training future researchers, policymakers, and development experts.
Selected students receive full financial support for the entire MSc duration (24 months) and are expected to return and contribute to development in their home countries after graduation.
Requirements
🎓 1. African Citizenship (Strict Requirement)
You must:
Hold citizenship of an African country
❌ Non-African nationals are not eligible
🎓 2. MSc Application First
You must:
Apply for a Master’s programme at Wageningen University
Submit application before deadline (usually 1 February)
🎓 3. Academic Excellence
Applicants must have:
First Class Honours or equivalent
GPA of 80% or higher
Ranked among top ~5% of graduating class
🎓 4. Conditional Admission First Step
You must:
Be unconditionally admitted to a Wageningen MSc programme before ASP selection
🎯 5. Strong Preference Criteria
Preference is given to applicants who:
Have not yet obtained a Master’s degree
Show strong leadership potential
Demonstrate commitment to Africa’s development

Final selection is highly competitive and may involve random selection among top candidates
